Artificial Intelligence and the Workplace: A Conversation with EEOC Commissioner Keith Sonderling

May 31, 2023 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

| Free

We are delighted to join the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Michigan Bar Association in co-hosting EEOC Commissioner Keith Sonderling for this important conversation on Artificial Intelligence and the Workplace. Artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies are changing the world in offering new ways to analyze vast quantities of data and drive effective decision-making in numerous areas of society. In the employment context, this technology can either level the playing field and help shield employees and job applicants from bias or entrench disparities involving minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and other protected classes by incorporating our biases into their algorithms. Since joining the EEOC, one of Commissioner Keith Sonderling’s highest priorities is ensuring that artificial intelligence and workplace technologies are designed and deployed consistent with long-standing civil rights laws. Commissioner Sonderling has published numerous articles on the benefits and potential harms of using artificial intelligence-based technology in the workplace and speaks globally on these issues.

This event will happen both live in the Detroit Room at the Levin Courthouse and in person.
