In October of 2022, our bar association partnered with the American College of Trial Lawyers to present the “Anatomy of a Trial” program. That event was a huge success, as was our recent “Nuts and Bolts on Section 1983” event held earlier this month. In order to further that effort, this July 10 event will focus on pre-trial issues, and include the participation of several of our federal judges, with an eye toward preparing for trial: discovery, dispositive motion practice, case conferences, motions in limine, and trial preparation.
The afternoon session will afford participants the opportunity to present an oral argument on an issue based on case materials we provide and receive feedback from a current federal judge and other experienced practitioners.
*** Note that as a follow on to this program, we plan to follow up with another full day program in the fall that will focus on trial issues, including jury selection, voir dire, opening statements, witness examination techniques, and additional breakout sessions. and thereafter, we hope to provide 2 full-day training sessions every year which will serve as follow-on training to our annual New Lawyers’ Seminar.
*** The cost for this full-day event is $140 for members of our association, and $215 for non-members. Summer associates/law students are encouraged to attend and should sign up for membership within our bar association (membership is FREE for law student) prior to registering for this program.
