2017 FBA RAKOW, ROM, HISTORICAL SOCIETY LUNCHEON

The annual joint luncheon of the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter and the Historical Society of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will be held on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 beginning at 11:30a.m., at the Historic Westin Book Cadillac Hotel on Washington Blvd in downtown Detroit.

The program will feature:

  1. Presentation of the Federal Bar Foundation’s annual Rakow Scholarship Awards to students from each of Michigan’s law schools;
  2. A very special Historical Society program including our honored speaker Danielle McGuire who is an award-winning historian and author of At the Dark End of the Street: Black Women, Rape and Resistance-a New History of the Civil Rights Movement from Rosa Parks to the Rise of Black Power. She earned her PhD in American History from Rutgers University, was a tenured professor at Wayne State University and is a Distinguished Lecturer for the Organization of American Historians. She serves as a historical consultant for film, television and museums and has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, PBS, National Public Radio, BookTV, CSPAN and dozens of local radio stations throughout the United States and Canada. She lives with her family in Metro Detroit; and
  3. The Annual Barbara Rom Award presentation for Bankruptcy Excellence.
